BANNING UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT GENERAL OBLIGATION BOND MEASURE "R" ADOPTED BY THE CITIZENS OF BANNING, NOVEMBER 7, 2006. BALLOT WORDING:
Banning Unified Classrooms Construction, Safety and Repair Measure:
Shall Banning Unified School District construct, repair, upgrade and equip local schools including: upgrade electrical wiring, expand/add science labs and libraries to meet current standards, address building safety issues, repair deteriorating restrooms/plumbing and HVAC; construct additional classrooms and schools to accommodate enrollment and make necessary improvements to school facilities, by issuing $63,000,000 of bonds at interest rates within legal limits, requiring annual audits and continuing the citizens' oversight committee.
Of the $63,000,000 authorized by the voters on November 7, 2006, $37,500,000 of the bonds were sold and expended on Measure R projects. November 8, 2016, voters elected to reauthorize the selling of the remainder of the original amount, $25,500,000. The selling of these bonds will bring the District funds for Measure M projects.
The Citizens' Oversight Committee ("COC") consists of seven (7) appointed members. Its principal purpose is the responsibility to inform the public concerning the expenditure of Measure R bond revenues by the Banning Unified School District ("District"). There are no vacancies. The members are:
