Mukesh (Mac) Patel has been the Director of Information Technology for Banning Unified School District for more than 10 years. He holds two Bachelors of Engineering degrees (Chemical and Electrical) from Arizona State University and a Master’s in Business Administration with an emphasis on Technology Management from the University of Phoenix.
Mac joined the K-12 Educational community in 1992 with Val Verde Unified School District (VVUSD) and steadily assumed higher responsibility positions. His career began as a Do-It-All technician and gradually progressed into Network Operations. After VVUSD, Mac was a Network Administrator for Jurupa Unified School District for one year before being appointed as the Director of Information Technology at Banning USD.
As Director, Mac has steadily improved our District’s backbone infrastructure. He facilitated and supervised the upgrade of all data circuits from 5, 10, and 100 Megabytes bandwidth to 10-Gigabyte bandwidth, and consolidated all fragmented technology services into a single stout three-blade chassis appliance. Under Mac’s guidance, a robust wireless network at each site has been installed, which includes installation of a wireless Access Point in every classroom. Mac and his department also manage a system with over 250 IP cameras, which is growing every day. He and his team rolled out 1:1 Chromebook deployment at Banning High School while assisting Middle and Elementary Schools with Chromebook Cart rollout.
Aside from technology, Mac loves to travel around the world and enjoys soccer, football, and cricket sporting events. He has traveled abroad to watch cricket tournaments.
Because striving to keep up with ever changing technology and technology needs is Mac’s personal interest as well as his career, he is an extraordinary asset to Banning Unified School District; as he strives to implement essential needs for each of the District’s stakeholders.
