The Dual Language Immersion Program is a challenging and rigorous academic program in which Spanish is the target language of instruction. The program implements a 90/10 Model in which K-1 students receive 90 percent of their instruction in Spanish and 10 percent in English. See the graph below for the percentages of Spanish and English in the classrooms across the grades. The teachers are fluent in Spanish and English and possess a Bilingual, Cross-Cultural, Language and Academic Development (BCLAD).

Parents interested in having their children participate in the program will need to start their children in the program in Kindergarten. This is the best way to ensure that the students become bilingual and biliterate by the fifth (5th) grade. Classes are filled on a first come, first served basis.
Criteria used for participation in the Dual Language Immersion Program:
(English Proficiency Exam) Scores of 4 and above
Language Assessment in Spanish (LAS):
(Spanish Proficiency Exam) Scores of 3 and above

California English Language Development Test (CELDT): English Growth for English Learners
Standards-based Tests in Spanish (STS): Spanish Growth for Spanish Learners
California Standards Tests (CST): Beginning in Second Grade for all students
