The purpose of the Elderly Nutrition Program is to provide nutrition services as described in the Older Americans Act of 1965, as amended, and to assist older individuals in San Bernardino County to live independently, by promoting better health through improved nutrition, and reduced isolation through programs coordinated with nutrition-related supportive services.

Services Provided
  • Congregate and Home Delivered meals are served throughout the County to eligible individuals.  Each meal shall provide at least 1/3 of the Daily 
  • Meals at a congregate nutrition site 
  • Home-delivered meals     
Congregate site: 
  • Any older individual – age 60 or older
  • The spouse of any older individual
  •  A person with a disability, under age sixty (60), who resides in housing facilities occupied primarily by older individuals at which congregate nutrition services are provided
Home Delivery:
  • A disabled individual who resides at home with and accompanies an older individual who participates in the program. 
  • Any older individual who is 60 or older, frail, and homebound by reason of illness, disability, or isolation. 
  • A spouse of any older individual receiving home-delivered meals if an assessment concludes that it is in the best interest of the homebound older individual who participates in the program.
  • An individual with a disability who resides at home with older individuals if an assessment concludes that it is in the best interest of the homebound older individual who participates in the program.

Banning Unified School District Clothing Benefit

Services Provided: 
  • Clothing assistance on the last Friday of each month from 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
  • Banning Unified parents can donate or exchange gently used clothing for their family between 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 31 in the Coombs North Building Student Services Office, 1151 W. Wilson St. in Banning
  • Clothes also may be exchanged on the last Friday of the month, except during school breaks.

  • Provides food to families and individuals every Wednesday of the month, if there is a fifth Wednesday in the month, no food is provided on that day. Recipients can return once a month for assistance. 
  • Diapers and baby food provided when available.

Banning Senior Center

Services Provided:  
  • Senior Nutrition Programs and Services provide nutritious meals to seniors throughout Riverside and San Bernardino Counties serving 2,500 seniors a day. 
  • Our program assists seniors and their loved ones in helping to maintain their independence. 
  • The Senior Nutrition Program provides two separate services; the congregate or “Group Meals” served at our Community Centers, and the Home Delivered Meals known as the “More Than A Meal” program.
