Special Education

The Special Education Department at Banning Unified School District is committed to ensuring that every student with a disability receives the support they need to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. We serve eligible students ages 3 to 21 who reside within the District, and we work closely with families, school staff, and the community to provide high-quality, individualized services in the least restrictive environment. Our mission is rooted in the belief that all students can learn and are entitled to a free and appropriate public education (FAPE) that prepares them to become contributing members of society.

Our team provides a continuum of services based on each student’s unique strengths and areas of need, with programming determined through the Individualized Education Program (IEP) process. We strive to build inclusive environments and deliver instruction that promotes growth, independence, and success.

Our Areas of Focus

The Special Education Department focuses on identifying and serving students with disabilities through tailored support and inclusive practices. Our priorities include delivering specialized academic instruction, ensuring compliance with FAPE and LRE mandates, providing access to a full continuum of placement options, and maintaining strong partnerships with families. We also work in collaboration with the Riverside County SELPA and other agencies to expand services, strengthen community involvement, and uphold student rights.
