Learning & Attendance Recovery Programs

Every Day Counts! When students come to school every day, they have more chances to learn, connect with friends, and build the habits that lead to success. Even a few missed days can add up and make it harder to keep up in class.

At Banning Unified, we know that life happens, so we’ve created three Attendance Recovery Programs to help students make up for missed days in fun and meaningful ways. These programs give families flexible options to keep students on track while making school a positive and rewarding experience.

Program Offerings

Short-Term Independent Study

Who is eligible?

Students who have missed or will miss a day of school.

How does it work?

Students will be provided classwork for the days they will be absent or have been absent. Students will be given attendance and academic credit once the assigned classwork is returned.

What Is Chronic Absenteeism?

Having missed 10% of school days or more.
10% of the school year is 18 school days.
Missed school days include excused, unexcused, and suspension absences.

Chronic absenteeism can lead to:
