About the Principal
Marcia Cole –Fijabi was born and raised in the South Suburbs of Chicago, Il. Mrs. Cole-Fijabi completed her undergraduate degree from Norfolk State University in Norfolk, Va. During her final semester, Moreno Valley Unified School District recruited her at a job fair hosted by the University. Mrs. Cole- Fijabi accepted the position and began her professional career in Moreno Valley, Ca. She continued her career in education as a teacher, dean, athletic director, and principal. She holds a teaching certificate in Virginia and California. She has a Master’s degree in Educational Administration from Concordia University, Irvine. She holds a cleared Administrative Service Credential, through the University of Redlands. 
 
Mrs. Cole-Fijabi has worked in education for over 20 years. She was a teacher, in Moreno Valley for nine years. She taught one year in the south suburbs of Chicago, IL. She then joined the Banning Unified School District family in 2008. Where she served as a teacher, Dean of Students, Athletic Director, and currently in her sixth year as an Elementary Principal of Central Elementary. Central is a Dual Immersion School and the longest established in Riverside County. Central also works in partnership with Confucius Institute to expose students to a Chinese Enrichment program.
 
Mrs. Cole- Fijabi has dedicated her career to the education of our nations’ youth.  Her goal is to assist students, in becoming self-sufficient critical-thinking adults. She believes the best path to this goal is to build strong literacy, mathematical, and technology skills. She also wants to prepare them for higher education and ultimately the workforce. Her goal is also to lead and motivate a staff, to capture the vision and mission of the school and school district.  
 
Her hard work has earned her, Principal of the year nominee for RCOE BEST (Bilingual Educators Succeeding Together) for 2014-2015. The principal of the year for Banning Unified School District for 2015- 2016 school year, and The principal of the year for Boys and Girls Club of the San Gorgonio Pass for 2017-2018 school year are just a few.
She is a current resident of Beaumont, California; however, her children have attended Banning Unified schools since kindergarten.  She is a wife and mother of four children.
