About the Principal
Principal Rodriguez began her teaching career in 2003 with the Colton Joint Unified School district where she also attended from 1st grade all the way through high school. After graduating high school, she received a Bachelor’s Degree from Cal State San Bernardino and then a Special Education credential and Master’s Degree from Azusa Pacific University.  After teaching as an elementary Mild/Moderate SDC teacher and a K-8th Grade RSP teacher for 13 years, Mrs. Rodriguez went back to school to attain her Preliminary Administrative Credential to pursue a position in school leadership.  She received her admin credential from National University and was hired on an internship credential as the Assistant Principal at Alice Birney Elementary School where she served for three years before coming to Banning.
Principal Rodriguez grew up in Colton and Bloomington, California with her mother and younger brother.  She is a second generation American and is proud of her culture and family that migrated to the states when her mother was only 7 years old.  Able to live the American dream, Mrs. Rodriguez mother was able to graduate high school and college, and pursued a career in education where she served as a teacher, elementary school principal, and director. Residing in Grand Terrace, California as a retired educator, she continues to serve her community on the Colton JUSD school board.
Principal Rodriguez is happily married to a travel baseball and high school football coach.  The Rodriguez family is very active with two boys who play travel and high school baseball and are both currently on the Varsity baseball team at Redlands High School.  When the boys aren’t playing on the baseball field, they are often umpiring baseball games in Redlands and in Banning.  Their daughter, who is 8 years old is also active and involved in baseball, softball, basketball, flag football, gymnastics, piano, singing, and dance. Their oldest son, a graduate from Redlands High School is currently attending Crafton College to pursue a career as a firefighter paramedic.  He is also a Wildland Fire Fighter and has been battling the fires all across California for the past several weeks.
Today, Principal Rodriguez is now the Proud Palomino Principal of Nicolet Middle School in the Banning Unified School District.  Since filling her position as a first year principal, Mrs. Rodriguez has been asked to write an article for School Rubric, an international education magazine on transforming school culture.  She has been invited to be a guest on two educational podcasts, is featured in two keynote addresses, and was awarded certificates of recognition from the city of Banning and from the State of California Senate office.  Since day one, Mrs. Rodriguez and the entire staff are on a mission to transform Nicolet Middle School into a Beacon in the Banning Community.
