📚 Lit-A-Palooza: Literacy Night & Community Fair

Help Your School Win a Free Little Library
Thanks to the Pass Community Foundation, six Free Little Libraries will be donated to schools in our District. Each student who attends Lit-A-Palooza will receive a ticket for their school. Schools with strong student participation will be entered into the drawing. The more students who attend from your school, the greater the opportunity to bring a Free Little Library to your campus.

Enrollment for the 2026–2027 school year is now open. Families with students entering Preschool, Transitional Kindergarten, Kindergarten, or those interested in transferring to the District are encouraged to apply.

Banning USD is launching a new electronic bus pass system to strengthen student safety and transportation accountability across the District.

Bus pass cards will be distributed at school February 25–27, and students must begin using their card on Monday, March 2. When boarding the bus, students will present their card and tap it on the scanner.

If your student does not receive a card, you may submit a replacement request at www.banning.k12.ca.us/bus-pass.

Banning Unified School District is reviewing proposed elementary school attendance boundary updates for the 2026–27 school year. Current students would not be impacted. Families are invited to share feedback before Board consideration.

There  will be no school on Tuesday, November 11, 2025. The District Office and School Sites will be closed in observance of Veteran’s Day.

Students will return on Wednesday, November 12, 2025.

Banning USD, in partnership with Cal Fire and the Riverside County Fire Department, invites families experiencing financial hardship to apply for holiday assistance. Applications are due Friday, December 5, 2025, by 4:00 p.m.

All Banning USD schools will be closed on Monday, September 1, 2025, in observance of Labor Day. Classes will resume on Tuesday, September 2, 2025.

Banning USD is excited to share that families have free access to the bilingual Footsteps2Brilliance literacy app, thanks to the Riverside County Office of Education. This program is designed to help children from birth through 5th grade build strong reading and language skills.

The San Gorgonio Education Foundation (SGEF) is excited to announce the 2025–2026 funding cycle for the Innovative Curriculum Project (ICP) Funding Award. This opportunity is designed to foster educational innovation by supporting projects that enhance student engagement, improve educational outcomes, and address critical community issues.

We are pleased to inform you that Banning Unified School District will be implementing a new option available to schools participating in the National School Lunch and School Breakfast Programs called the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) for 2025 – 2026 School Year.

The National Weather Service has issued an Extreme Heat Warning for the San Gorgonio Pass, including Banning, from Wednesday, August 20 at 10:00 a.m. through Saturday, August 23 at 8:00 p.m. Temperatures are expected to be over 100°, with Thursday and Friday being the hottest days.

Banning Unified is now enrolling for its free Expanded Learning Programs, which offer Before and After School care with academic support, enrichment, and social-emotional learning. Programs are available at several school sites and run every day school is in session. Families can enroll now.

Banning High School orientation for 10th–12th grade students is Monday, July 28 from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. 9th grade orientation is Friday, August 1, with students attending from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM and parents joining from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM. Nicolet Middle School will host student-only orientations from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM—6th grade on July 28, 7th grade on July 29 (with a TDap clinic from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM), and 8th grade on July 30. Make-up days are July 31 and August 1 from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM, and parents must attend with their student.

Banning Unified School District is excited to welcome families back for the 2025–26 school year with our Back to School Backpack Distribution and Enrollment Week, taking place July 28 through August 1 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Centralized Registration Portable (across from the District Office).

Families may now apply for SunBucks, a new summer food assistance program that provides $120 per eligible child to help purchase groceries while school is out.
