Mission and Vision

Our District

Banning Unified School District serves students and families throughout Banning and surrounding communities, including Cabazon, Whitewater, Poppet Flats, and the Morongo Indian Reservation. The District serves a geographic area of approximately 300 square miles in Riverside County.

From early learning through high school and alternative education, the District provides educational opportunities designed to help students learn, grow, and prepare for their futures.

A District with Deep Roots

The District's history dates to 1877, when the San Gorgonio School District was formed and its first school opened with 14 students. The District later became Banning Unified School District. The historic Williams Street school building, constructed in the early 1900s, continues to serve the community today as the District Office and administration center.
