District Performance Overview

California’s Accountability Framework
California’s accountability system uses multiple measures to provide a more complete picture of school and District performance. Rather than relying on a single test score, the system includes academic outcomes, student engagement, school climate, and local measures that reflect systems and supports.

The Dashboard brings these measures together to promote transparency and support continuous improvement across the District.

State Indicators
State indicators measure student outcomes and progress over time. These indicators use color ratings and are based on both current performance and change compared to prior years.

State indicators include:

• English Language Arts

• Mathematics

• English Learner Progress

• College/Career

• Graduation Rate

• Chronic Absenteeism

• Suspension Rate

Local Indicators
Local indicators focus on whether required conditions, practices, or systems are in place. These indicators are not color-coded and are reported as Standard Met or Standard Not Met.

Local indicators include:

• Basics (Teachers, Instructional Materials, Facilities)

• Implementation of Academic Standards

• Parent and Family Engagement

• Local Climate Survey

• Access to a Broad Course of Study

Informational Indicators
Some data elements are provided for informational purposes only and are not used for accountability determinations. These indicators may not receive a performance color in a given year.

How Colors Are Determined
For state indicators, performance colors reflect a combination of:

• Status – how performance compares to state standards

• Change – improvement, decline, or stability over time

Because both factors are considered, colors do not represent a single test score or one year of results.

Color Scale Overview

• Blue – Very high performance

• Green – High performance

• Yellow – Medium performance

• Orange – Low performance

• Red – Very low performance

Each indicator has its own methodology, meaning colors should always be interpreted within the context of that specific category.

District and School Performance Reports
Annual performance reports for the District and individual schools are published through the California School Dashboard.

This section will include links to:

• District-level Dashboard reports

• School-level Dashboard reports

• School Accountability Report Cards (SARCs)

• Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP)

Reports are updated as new public data becomes available.

How the District Uses This Information
Performance data is one of several tools used by the District to:

• Identify strengths and areas for growth

• Inform planning and support strategies

• Monitor progress over time

• Engage families and the community in improvement efforts

The District reviews state accountability data alongside local measures to ensure decisions are informed by a broad and balanced set of information.
