Banning Unified School District will be offering parenting class for all parents who have children ages 2-12.
Classes start tomorrow, January 17th.
It's a great opportunity to start the new year with a little more knowledge to help our children be more successful in the future.

Meet Emilio Murillo, Teacher at Nicolet Middle School. Here is a little more from Emilio, "I have a beautiful wife Yesenia. We have been married for 9 years and I have known her since high school. Have 3 kids that are students in Banning Unified, Sophia who is in 8th grade at NMS. Sebastian and Salma who are 2nd and 1st graders at Central elementary. I am a big sport enthusiast as I love all sports especially baseball, football, basketball and golf. My hobbies are playing golf and going to Dodger games. Fun fact about me is that I am ambidextrous and can do various things with both hands and feet. Fun fact is at our site NMS we have a Pi day event that has gotten bigger each year and students get to throw whip cream at myself and other teachers. I love working for Banning USD as these students need all the support not just academically but also social and emotional learning as well. I treat my classroom as their home and make sure they feel comfortable each and every day. I have seen my nephews and niece come through the Banning USD and wanted to contribute to all students success. Anything I can do to make an impact I will always try my best." #BanningUSD

Meet Adriana Lopez, Bilingual Aide at Cabazon Elementary School. Here is a little more from Adriana, "I am a first generation Mexican American. My parents immigrated to the United States from Mexico. One of my favorite pastimes is spending time with my pets, and just relaxing at home, whether reading books or playing video games. My absolute favorite series is Harry Potter!
Why Do I Love Working at Banning USD?: I am a Banning Unified Alumni, graduated in 2013, so working here makes me happy to be able to give back to the community for which I grew up in! Especially working with students who recently came into our country to better their future, just as my parents have done when they came into this country." Adriana was submitted by a Cabazon staff member, here is what they said about her, "I am nominating Adriana because she has served at Nicolet, Banning High, and now at Cabazon for 9 years as a para educator and now bilingual aide. She is helping to establish her place at Cabazon by offering tutoring, translating, and helping our EL and intervention students achieve their academic goals." #BanningUSD

This week's Student Athlete of the Week at Banning High School is Jose Medina. Coach Aja had this to say about him, "Jose is the leader of the defense. He plays strong, tough defense. He is always first to win a 50/50 ball on the ground or in the air. He has great slide tackling skills. The defense now has six shutouts for the season." #BanningUSD
