Meet Erin Onks, Paraeducator at Banning High School. Erin is a self proclaimed geek; she enjoy animes, video games, comic books and graphic novels. She also enjoy hanging out with her friends at Disneyland & California Adventure as well as Medieval Reenactment and spending time with her husband Mr. Onks at their home with their two cats Nessie and Nimitz. Erin has been to England, Scotland and Japan as well as 20 states in the USA including Hawaii! Erin chooses #BanningUSD because, "I love the connection I create when helping students, most of them have such big caring hearts that most don't want to show."
Mr. De La Cruz's class at Nicolet MS mastered the art of making grilled cheese sandwiches today! 🥪 Each student had a special role, working together seamlessly to achieve cheesy perfection. 👏 They were thrilled both to make & enjoy their culinary creations! 🍽️🤗 #BanningUSD 🏫
The Banning Library District is inviting everyone to A Haunted Library Halloween Maze on October 27th from 4-5pm. Costume Contest to follow after. Contest ages are 0-6 and 7-12. Waiver must be signed for participation.

Congratulations to the Banning High School Student Athlete of the Week Alexia Yang! Alexia is a Girls Tennis player and a member of the Cross Country team as well. Coach Kline mentioned, "Alexia plays singles for the Banning HS girls' tennis team, and runs for the Banning HS cross country team. She played 3 singles matches on Tuesday vs. 29 Palms. She then ran at the home cross country meet on Wednesday, finishing as the second highest girl for Banning with a time of 24:26. She then played singles again against Yucca Valley on Thursday. Finally, on Saturday, she ran the Pacific Beach 5k, finishing first in her age group. " Great job Alexia! #BanningUSD

October 9 - 13 Banning Unified School District is recognizing National School Lunch Week! Our theme this year is Level Up With School Lunch, insisting that good nutrition will help students level up in the classroom. Please encourage your students to participate in our lunch program all week. We will have activities and a chance for prizes at every grade level for students who eat a school lunch.
The Banning Library District is hosting a workshop called, "Is That Healthy? How to Make Better Options" with Nutritionist Shafiqa Love.
If you are interested, the workshop is on Friday, October 13, 2023 from 11am-12pm in the Children's Room. See the flyer for more details!
Meet Christina Avila, Paraeducator at Hemmerling Elementary School. She has four children, two of which go to Hemmerling. Her family loves to be active in the community by playing sports, they are involved with their church and also enjoy going to the park. Simply having fun and being active is their family motto.Christina loves spreading joy because she thinks that our world could use as much kindness as possible! Christina chose #BanningUSD because she loves working with the staff not just at her own site, but all sites have amazing people! What began as wanting to help at the school her children attend, led her to a full time job. Christina says, "Watching the kids learn and start to get the lesson or learn how to read is my favorite. It’s the a-ha moment that brings me joy. Plus all the fun activities we do is my joy."
Congratulations to all of the Banning High School students who were recognized yesterday for academic success! Students were honored for GPAs 3.5+ and several other honors. We are so proud of our #BanningUSD students every day! Way to shine students! 💚🤩
Congratulations to the Banning High School Student Athlete of the Week Justin Finn-Price! Justin is a Boys Water Polo player. Coach Lopez mentioned, "Justin has worked extremely hard as team captain to lead his team to their most competitive season in the Mountain Pass League ever. He has been a top scorer and a great passer which has led to creating many opportunities for his teammates to make plays." Great job Justin! #BanningUSD

Last week we got to meet up with the Adult Transition Program students who were rewarded w/a pizza party for having the best attendance! The students also shared all the wonderful things they do in their program like learning life skills and volunteering in the Banning community.
